LGBTQ foster carers - Same sex couples and fostering

Fostering is a special thing. In fact, we believe it is one of the most compassionate and rewarding things you can do in life. If you are lesbian, gay, bi or transgender, and are interested in becoming a foster carer with us, we’d love to hear from you. LGBTQ and same sex couples have been fostering children for many years. We offer round the clock support to all our foster carers; and as one of the few private fostering agencies in the UK, with an accredited learning centre status, there’s plenty of opportunity to develop your skills, build confidence and gain professional qualifications.

Yes. In 2013 research that was carried out for the British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) by Cambridge University found positive relationships and wellbeing in these families. LGBTQ and same sex couples have been successfully fostering children for many years. Fostering can be challenging at times, so it’s important foster carers are positive role models. As all foster carers face challenges; fostered children also face their own challenges.
