Residential migration and prevention fostering placements have been developed in order to provide long-term, stable fostering placements for children who would otherwise be in long-term residential care homes. These children live as part of a family in a nurturing and stable home environment; often away from an area they know. Parent and child fostering placements are where a child and parent, usually being the child’s mother will live with a foster carer. This type of specialist fostering placement involves the foster carer supporting the parent whilst helping them to develop their parenting skills within a safe environment. Bail and Remand fostering placements are a type of specialised fostering placements. Sometimes a child may be remanded into the care of the Local Authority instead of a young offenders unit. Remand foster placements vary in length, however they usually only last for a few weeks. This type of fostering can be extremely challenging, however we provide all of our foster carers with all the training and support before and during the placement. Some remand foster carers will have experience working within youth justice, however this is not essential. At DMR Fostering Services, we also provide fostering placements for children seeking sanctuary and asylum in the UK. These children may have been separated from their families and may also speak little or no English.
